From the 488th Record

The construction, transportation, supply and maintenance of Bridges this, is the mission of a Light Ponton Company....... There are some aspects of Army life that no one wants to remember.   But the passage of time often clouds or erases completely many memories that we would like to retain.  To assist you in the years to come, in recalling the friendships, the pleasant experiences and the humorous incidents that occurred in periods of training, action and uncertainty--to keep the memory of these things forever green is-- the purpose of this book.
